Jaymie’s California Dreaming Painting

When I started working out in Los Angeles, there was a long period of time where I didn’t have time to paint. I missed it. A lot. One day, once things had slowed down, I took myself to Michael’s, bought some canvases, a basic brush set, and the primary colors. I found an image that I found inspiring, and went from there!

Some 3D Models Made During Quarantine Using Blender:

Pipe Wrench Modeled in Blender. All textures procedural and made by me.
A model of my daily driver headphones.
A simple, low-poly render of a man at his laptop
Some paper clips I modeled using photorealistic floor textures and displacements.
A dumpster in a brick alleyway, made with photorealistic textures and displacements.
A kitchen model I made for an animation with some ramen on the side.

Julia’s Tapestry

As part of the process of redecorating my room over quarantine, I created this tapestry to fill empty wall space. The painting is a recreation of the first shot in Spirited Away. I think this is the largest painting I have ever done. It was extremely time consuming and I learned through the process of creating it that painting on fabric is much more difficult and labor intensive than painting on canvas because the fabric absorbs the paint. I started the project by drawing the design on the fabric with pencil. I then painted in large blocks of color and once I had completed that I added shading and details. The last step was lining everything with sharpie.
