As part of the process of redecorating my room over quarantine, I created this tapestry to fill empty wall space. The painting is a recreation of the first shot in Spirited Away. I think this is the largest painting I have ever done. It was extremely time consuming and I learned through the process of creating it that painting on fabric is much more difficult and labor intensive than painting on canvas because the fabric absorbs the paint. I started the project by drawing the design on the fabric with pencil. I then painted in large blocks of color and once I had completed that I added shading and details. The last step was lining everything with sharpie.
